This is the first post

I’m Lindsay, and this is my blog… about science!

To come clean: I’m no scientific expert. I graduated from college a year ago, and majored in creative writing, which is more about making things up than finding empirical truths. Doing science has never been my strong suit. Labs and numbers tend to make me a little dizzy.

But I love learning about science. The more I learn - about anything - the more I want to know. This blog will be a growing experiment, in which I will be constantly discovering things which are new and exciting to me. And then I will write about those things. It will be interesting, so stay with me for a bit.

I totally can’t wait to read this blog. Thank you for introducing yourself to the web community. Have you ever thought about doing a piece on the nation’s most prominent raccoonologist?

On April 28th an organization called the Institute for Creation Research is hosting a conference in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado entitled “Back to Genesis.”

Keynoting the event is “NASA Astronaut Col. Jeffrey Williams,” whose photo portrays him in what appears to be a space suit.

How can it be that a scientifically-trained navigator of the stars can be an advocate for a faith-based explanation of the origins of the universe?

    Is this hokum?

Thank-you for any answers you may be able to provide,

    AE

    Dear Lindsay,

Perhaps a member of your generation of youth can offer some guidance to those many elders in my not-so-great generation who have evidently chosen to eschew science and, for the sake of our lives alone, to hold onto our one and only God: wealth accumulation. Regardless of the consequences to environmental health, human wellbeing, the future of life, and the integrity of Earth, we want more and more money. We call ourselves Masters of the Universe. We are loathe to live within the limits of biophysical reality, share resources, make behavior changes, and do what is necessary for assuring life as we know it to coming generations.

Would you consider assisting me with an unfulfilled responsibility to your generation and future generations………. a responsibility I call a “duty to warn”.

Without success over the past several years, I have been inviting population scientists, demographers, biologists, economists and anyone else with appropriate expertise to openly comment on the apparently unexpected evidence on human population dynamics and the human overpopulation of Earth from Hopfenberg and Pimentel. Where, pray tell me, might I find a deeply dedicated, top-rank brother or sister in the scientific community who possesses the necessary expertise and is willing to report in a professional manner on their research?

Thanks for considering this humble request for help. Please feel free to contact me directly with a name or else have the scientist get in touch with me by email. I will do whatsoever is necessary to fulfill this unlikely personal obligation.

    Sincerely yours,

    Steve
