Global warming power metal Friday

Hip hop has a wide appeal for music lovers who may want to know about global warming. But honestly, is there a more powerful genre for the message than power metal?

For those who are unfamiliar with power metal, a friend of mine describes it best: “Imagine the music you would want to have playing if you were running through a forest with a battle ax.” The same friend defines Sonata Arctica as the the best power metal band of all time.

This “Global Warming Reflection Video” turns their environmental anthem “Wrecking the Sphere” into an meditation in human impact, action, and consequences on the planet. The imagery matches the characteristic intensity of the music. It’s going to pump you up on global warming. You’re going to start wanting to run places with a battle ax. Plus, you can sing along. Watch it.

    Dear Lindsay,

Do you think that “power metal” music could make enough sound so as to shatter the silence perpetrated by “the hollow men, the stuffed men,” as well as to gain the attention of these wreckers of our spherical home, these self-proclaimed masters of the universe who worship the golden calf and the many sources of power derived only from it?

    Sincerely,

    Steve

Global warming is occuring, but it is part of the natural process of the world and the solar system. Man didn’t cause it and can’t fix it…its not broken. We’re just along for the ride.

Does HammerFall do global environmental awareness? They should! Personally, my favorite is “Killswitch Engage”:http://www.killswitchengage.com/, but they’re more heavy metal, and they don’t do any song about the environment unfortunately.

Whether or not humans affect global warming, we definitely can help the environment by getting people to do a lot of other things people don’t normally do to lower energy and resource consumption and pollution, and raise recycling.

I am not entirely convinced of the severity of global warming, but only a real ass would be unconcerned with over pollution and the problems caused by it. That is all.

I would certainly go for Iced Earth and they have some cool power metal songs to describe global warming and things like that but yes, Hammerfall is still the best! Heck, any power metal or any heavy metal group is the best for this kind of awareness event! Just don’t mix it with hip-hop, rap or metal-rap! But in general, fighting for our environment’s life is for everybody, right? Long live Heavy Metal! (Rush is not power metal, they are more on heavy metal, progressive sort of stuff but they can be great prophets and messengers for protecting the environment. Anybody heard of their songs, “Trees” and “Xanadu”?
