Hello everyone and welcome. I’m Deborah Byrd, and I’ve been writing about science for radio, print and digital media for 30 years. Maybe you’ve heard me on the radio. In this blog on the Earth & Sky website, I’ll be writing about the subjects nearest and dearest to my heart, including the natural and human world, as well as the world of media. I have lots to say. I hope you do, too!

wow. what is that thing? Can I have one?
It’s a telescope! I’m standing inside the 200-inch telescope at Mount Palomar!
If you like telescopes, you should get a tour of the observatories on Maunakea. A couple are open for visitors (Keck) and others can be arranged. The `Imiloa Astronomy Center is a good place to start — but you probably already have some contacts.

What a marvelous thought, George. Thank you.
