I am a farmer and I almost worship soil bacteria. The more science I read about them the more awed I feel. However I do not think the scientists know everything about them, on a spiritual level. We all have a lot to learn. Recently I read about scientists in Germany who passed seeds through smoke from 'burning weeds' (they specified the ppm. but not the type of 'weed') and the plants did better not only at germination but throughout life. My native friends tell me to smoke the corn seeds with tobacco because it is sacred. Ideally science and religion should work together in this way. In any case I am going to start smoking my seeds before I plant them. best to all.

Deborah,

You asked about evidence? Let me ask the same question.
What evidence SUPPORTS macro evolution?

I'll give you an example of why MACRO evolution doesn't work. Or why different species can't breed outside of their own species.

There's a little SCIENTIFIC thing called DNA. This prevents species of creatures (Man, Animal, Insect. etc..)from becoming, or breeding with anything BUT it's own kind.

Also, Where are the fossil records that "prove" Darwin's "theory"?
There are a few "links" missing in this proverbial chain.

I've seen the "Hominid" fossils... but how many have been discovered? (Ive read somewhere around 2000 or so)

You'd think with the vast number of creatures that have lived & died, there would be MANY MORE fossils found.
The most likely explaination for these so-called discoveries is this; These are deformations / defects in the example.

Just as we have deformed / defective births nowadays, the same would be true long ago.

If MANKIND came from the same "goo" as every other creature, why haven't at least one or two other species "progressed / evolved" as much as we did?

If it's ALL NATURALISM, & the "goo" evolved into as many things as it did, SURELY there's be more than just humans with extremely advanced skills.

Here's the thing, There's no evidence to support macro evolution.

I'll admit, there was a time when I thought evolution was a possibility; But, then I "grew up".

Dear Deborah,

Given the profound implications of the scale and growth rate of the unbridled increase of human consumption, production and propagation activities now engulfing the Earth, please, I implore you, simply take a moment and consider the solid scientific observations and good empirical data presented in the following presentation,

http://panearth.org/panearth/world food & human population growth/player.html

Comments from you and everyone else in the Earth & Sky community are invited. Everyone I know and respect has been hoping to find flaws in the research presented here and now.

Plainly, what is necessary now is intellectual honesty and courage as well as a willingness to begin “centering” the attention of the leaders of the human community on the threat to humanity, life as we know it, the environment and the integrity of Earth that is posed by the gigantic scale and evidently unsustainable growth rate of the human population worldwide.

Dear Deborah,

Embracing good science is bodes well for humankind, life as we know it, the environment and the integrity of Earth.

At least to me, the “powers that be” know more than they are willing to express with regard to the human predicament that is looming before humanity in the offing. That many too many politicians, economists and business people thoughtlessly support a soon to become unsustainable global enterprise of endless big-business expansion, is not difficult to understand. We can expect such behavior from those who have pledged their primary allegiance and reverent devotion to the success of economic globalization, regardless of the potential for eventual catastrophe that such a reckless and unrealistic pursuit portends. On the other hand, for most scientists and virtually all demographers, who claim expertise in science related to the human population, to stubbornly collude with the “powers that be” by remaining consciously and willfully blind, hysterically deaf and electively mute in the face of good scientific evidence of a distinct probability of human-forced ecological collapse is incomprehensible.

What worries me is this: our children could unexpectedly and suddenly come face to face with converging global challenges because their elders have remained adamantly and relentlessly in denial of human-driven, fulminating ecological degradation, already visible on the far horizon. One noticeable consequence of their elders’ denial of “whatsoever is somehow real” is that our children will likely have extraordinary difficulties responding ably to that with which they could soon be confronted; that is to say, “they will not even know what hit them,” much less why it is happening.

Sincerely,

Steve

Mark, you say there is "MORE evidence AGAINST MACRO Evolution nowadays, than (science) ever had in favor of it."

Show us! Where is this evidence?

One other thing I noticed while reading through the replies is this:
The majority of posts here are nothing more than "Eloquently-Worded, Hypothetical, Theoretical Questions".

To say that Science is "not facts, but a process" is an open ended statement with no solid opinion.

Yes, science discovers new things all the time, & the things we "JUST KNEW were correct" are frequently updated.
Case in Point, Sceince has MORE evidence AGAINST MACRO Evolution nowadays, than it ever had in favor of it.

So, those of you who want to offer your "insight", based SOLELY on "Theroies / guesses / outdated information / opinion.." etc... And have no means of making a REAL case for your statements, this is your invitation to PROVE, with MODERN FACTS (*ahem.. deborah byrd*) and not just OLD, rehashed, Darwinian crap-ola.

I truly believe that if you put aside YOUR "BELIEFS / FAITH" in evolution, in search of TRUE Scientific discovery, you might just learn something.

Don't just refer me to the same tired "pro-evolution" links! (like a previous post did.... I've already read them, & there's nothing solid.... only speculative crap like the rest have.)
Show me GOOD, MODERN information to support your "theory".
I'm willing to listen, with an open mind, .... But NOT if it's the same old argument used by Darwin Lovers for the last decades.

This might have been covered already, But after reading the 1st batch of replies I felt the need to interject.

1st of all, SCIENCE ITSELF progressively disproves Evolution. At least the "Darwinian Theory" anyway.
Yes, there ARE examples of "MICRO" Evolution, as with bacteria & such; But there is NO scientific evidence WHATSOEVER, to indicate "MACRO" Evolution.

DNA won't allow it. PERIOD. THAT is "SCIENCE."
A canine can't evolve into a feline.
A reptile can't evolve into a mammal.
An APE *or insert Darwinian word of choice* DIDN'T evolve into humans.
If that WERE the case, why are there still Apes?
Why aren't there MORE "Highly Evolved" species, other than Humans?

People who BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION are actually the ones who are "Resisting Science". Think about it. There is more & more "scientific evidence" coming out, to disprove evolution on that kind of scale.
If you're in doubt, then look around. Get away from those OUTDATED theories that Darwin introduced.

These politicians who publicly denounce evolution are showing a great amount of intelligence. They seem to "EMBRACE" science.
I have to agree with them.
I embrace science as well, & science has given me continuous proof that evolution is NOT POSSIBLE, when it comes to species becoming a NEW species.

Those of you who suggest science leans towards proof OF Macro Evolution need to quit reading the "Daddy Darwin" message boards, & actually research the NEWEST, most Up-To-Date information.

This is NOT a "Faith / Knowledge" issue, as was previously suggested.
This is FACT, based on Scientific Knowledge. And I have "FAITH" that the FACTS speak the TRUTH.
