Top ten tantalizing tidbits from Ted Talks

I’ve been watching TED TALKS for a while now, and find that other people refer to TED in casual conversation just like I do. TED’s alternative name is “Ideas Worth Spreading,” and the talks are truly that. Scientists, theorists, philosophers, writers, environmentalists, people of all sorts give short presentations to TED audiences, and the talks are videotaped and presented on the TED site. It’s one of the most inspiring sites out there, and there is always some very interesting clip to be seen. A few days ago I received an email from my TED membership newsletter/listserve. The new item announced is the Ten Best TED TALKS, which is a virtual jackpot of delight. There is a short trailer that you can watch including clips from each of the ten, or just watch all ten starting HERE.

Watch neuroscientist Jill Bolte Taylor describe observations and insights from her own brain during a stroke; see Jeff Han present a fully interactive computer display where hands-on interface enables amazing capabilities to edit and manipulate material, ramping up our abilities to organize and access information. Al Gore presents his thoughts on the environment and global warming, and savant mathemagician Arthur Benjamin does amazing calculations. Hans Rosling, presents the best statistics you’ve ever seen, and David Gallo presents underwater astonishments. These are to mention only a few of the top ten. Watch them all!
