See the world change

Visual imagery can tell stories and truths which would be very hard to capture and communicate otherwise. Hans Rosling is as animated as his chartsI want to share this IDEA WORTH SPREADING. Initially presented by TED TALKS, a site that regularly gives us “Inspired Talks by the World’s Greatest Thinkers and Doers,” this presentation by Hans Rosling is posted by the mother site, Google Videos.

Rosling, Professor of International Health, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden since 1998, uses beautiful animated charts and minimalistic diagrams to explain the world we live in. Poverty, money and health can be seen at once shaping or being shaped by world events, technology and the passing of time.

This is a beautiful lesson in visual communication, and packed with information from a new, dynamic perspective. TED labels this video as “Hans Rosling: Debunking third-world myths with the best stats you’ve ever seen.” See it HERE.

For extras, Hans Rosling has a blog. I’m sure he would love to hear from Earth & Sky-ers!
